* We noticed several archival digs in our wanderings around the Internet this last week, so we thought we’d highlight them here. Starting with The New Cafe (Racer) Society’s find of this picture of the Wyoming Cyclery and its Excelsior bikes over at the University of Wyoming’s American Heritage Center. UW dates the photo from 1914 and notes the cyclery was located at 1711 Pioneer Avenue in Cheyenne. The buildings in the area certainly look of the age.
* Next up, and remaining out West for a moment, a photo from the Sherratt Library of Southern Utah University, via the Mountain West Digital Library, showing a Utah Parks Company open tour bus in the 1930s. We know it’s a White, but we really can’t add much more info to the picture.
* This is the perfect opportunity to grab a photo from Shorpy, which has plenty of automobile-related photos from their archive digs. This one, submitted by John Debold, shows the Joseph F. Stein Cadillac-Studebaker dealership in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Stein was apparently prominent enough to warrant an obit in the New York Times on his death in 1990. Helen-Chantal Pike’s book on Asbury Park notes that the dealership was located on Main Street between Monroe and Sewall avenues.
* We mentioned video archives, and one of the best places for video archive digging is YouTube. Murilee Martin over at Jalopnik recently pulled together 14 AMC ads, including the Pacer ad above.
* Finally, Gary Grant over at theGarageBlog has been going through the fat packet of photos his father recently sent him and uncovered some treasures, such as this 1969 AMX his father raced, caught at Mosport, a shot of Mo Carter in his Camaro at Harewood Acres and a shot of the P&G Special.
