I got a glimpse of Jim Bradley’s 1933 Chrysler Imperial Le Baron Sport Phaeton a couple of years ago, but it wasn’t until June of this year that I finally got to photograph it for a future drivableDream feature in Classic Car. In part, it hadn’t run since the Seventies, and I was in no hurry to shoot a 45-foot long car we had to push. But when I told Jim I was going to be in the Oklahoma City area, he and his buddies put in about a month’s work and got it going. It’s a good feeling to be the impetus that helps a guy drive his car for the first time ever.
Out of 44 Sport Phaetons made, 12 survive. Eleven of them are restored.
Note to Chrysler: You used to make these. You used to be somebody.
