How to Change Your Windshield Wipers

So there comes that time when you need to change your windshield wipers.  Experts suggest that you change them every 6 months+ or when they start to look tattered.  Although, if you’ve never changed them before, it can be a little tricky.  Especially since different windshield wipers have different ways to do it.

Need help, and directions on how to change your wipers?  If so, continue reading below.

  • First, you will want to find the correct wiper blades for your vehicle.  When you go to the store, there will usually be a little booklet that will find the make and year of your model, and write out which wiper blades you need.
  • Once you find the correct set (and the right code/number), you will want to purchase them.
  • Now, take off the old wipers on your car.  There will usually be a little latch that you undue.
  • Once the old ones are gone, it is time to replace the old ones with new ones.
  • Pull up the wiper blade arm so that it’s in the air and not resting on the windshield.
  • Now, insert the attachment onto the new blade or onto the wiper arm.  It will usually make a click noise to make sure you know that it’s secure.
  • Once it’s on, you can also tug on the wiper to make sure it’s not going to fall off.
  • Test them out by turn on your wiper blades.

Putting new wiper blades on is really that easy.  Follow those steps and they’ll be on in just minutes.  Although, if you’re having trouble you will usually have directions right on the box of your new wiper blade set.  Follow the step by step directions, and the steps above and you will have new wiper blades in a just a few minutes.  Can’t find the ones you’re looking for in the store?  Try looking at this great selection!
