2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic Recalls Challengers of the Past

Chrysler has unveiled the Dodge Challenger R/T Classic, which pays homage to the original Challengers.

The Challenger R/T Classic is based on the 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T and is powered by the 5.7L V8 mated to either a Tremec six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission. A performance tuned exhaust provides even more "throatiness". The dual hood scoops are also functional.

The exterior of the R/T Classic features dual throwback A-line body-side R/T stripes, 'Challenger' fender badging in classic script, large 20-inch polished-chrome heritage wheels with all-season performance tires, classic egg-crate grille with heritage 'R/T' badge, body-color rear spoiler and chromed fuel-filler door.

The Dodge Challenger R/T Classic starts at $34,005 and is available now.

Chrysler Offers Employee Discount Pricing to Wal-Mart Employees

Chrysler's sales have dropped 25 percent this year, so the automaker is looking for creative ways to boost its sales. Starting on Nov 1st, Chrysler will offer employee discount pricing to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. workers.

All US-based Wal-Mart employees are eligible for the program. According to Curtrise Garner, a Chrysler spokeswoman, "Wal-Mart is one of our largest fleet customers." The savings will range from 4% to 6% off invoice or 8% to 14% off MSRP, which is identical to the discount that Chrysler employees and their families currently receive.

Wal-Mart currently has 1.4 million employees.

In addition to the Wal-Mart employee discount, Chrysler also announced that Chrysler employees can now get employee discount pricing on some Dodge Viper models.

1978 Dodge D150 Power Wagon [Down On The Street]

Welcome to Down On The Street, where we admire old vehicles found parked on the streets of the Island That Rust Forgot: Alameda, California. Today's Truck Monday with a 1978 Dodge Power Wagon pickup.

It's Truck Monday again, and today that means we'll be checking out a fine stack-equipped example of the Keep On Truckin' Era (aka Malaise Era): a 1978 Dodge Power Wagon pickup.


In 1978, you could boogie down to your friendly Dodge dealer and roar off the lot in a tape-stripe-a-ganza of a special-edition D series pickup. Everyone knows about the Lil' Red Express, which boasted the highest top speed of any Big Three-built vehicle- including the Corvette- during the darkest days of Malaise, but don't forget the Midnite Express, the Warlock, or the Macho Power Wagon! This truck appears to be a sort of junkyard mashup of a regular D series with the Lil' Red Express and the Macho Power Wagon (though it's not quite as macho as this '70). Or were the exhaust stacks a factory option available on any D series truck? Dodge truck experts, any insights?


I found this truck parked just around the corner from the '88 Porsche 924S and a mean-looking Buick Electra we haven't seen yet. Good DOTS neighborhood!

All-New 2009 Dodge Ram is Going to be Up to 20 Percent More Fuel Efficient

Dodge unveiled the all-new 2009 Dodge Ram pickup at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year. Now according to Chrysler executives the all-new Ram could see a 20 percent improvement in fuel efficiency over the out going model.

eBay: Charity Auction of #43 2008 Challenger SRT8

Less than a week after seeing the rights to the very first production Challenger SRT8 go for $400,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Auction we have our second auction opportunity for a very special car. Starting February 12 bidding will begin on the #43 Challenger SRT8. The car will be painted a special B5 Blue and will be the only Challenger painted that color.

The famed color and significance of the #43, for the rare few reading this that do not know, goes back to Nascar driver Richard Petty. The proceeds from this auction will go toward the Victory Junction Gang, a childrens charity that was founded by Nascar driver Kyle Petty following the death of his son Adam. The organization has a camp where children with chronic diseases can go to take part in various activities and maybe forget for a while about the disease they are living with. (more…)

What are the Most Lustable New Cars for 2008?

It seems impossible to fathom that I am the only perpetual car shopper who is always looking for that next fun auto. While there may be many who do not consider themselves perpetual car shoppers many may believe themselves to be car aficionados or appreciators of fine autos. For those of you who, like myself, have put off the purchase of that next fun ride, as well as for those of you who appreciate the promise of the next cool auto, I have compile MY list of the Most Lustable New Cars for 2008. If you have put off buying that new car for a while these are the cars that I feel will make all the waiting worth the while. Some of these cars are still coming from their concept stage and have yet to be road tested by people outside of the manufacturers engineers, so for some their ranking is based on the Promise of what the car will be. New Chrysler Incentive: Free Hemi Engines and DVD Systems

If you’re looking to buy a new Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep truck, wait until March, when DaimlerChrysler will start a new marketing campaign that will offer an upgrade to its popular Hemi V-8 engine at no additional cost. The standard price of the Hemi is $1,700.

Are you more of a family man with no need for the extra horsepower and gas-guzzling of a V-8 engine? Then wait until April when Chrysler will put a free $1,000 DVD entertainment system into every minivan it sells.

There will also be additional cash back and low interest-rate offers introduced later this month on the automaker’s minivans, Dodge Ram pickup, Chrysler 300C and Dodge Charger.

Over 62,000 New Jeep, Dodge and Chryslers Recalled

Here’s news that will dampen the mood of even the merriest of car owners. Chrysler is recalling more than 62,000 new cars for faulty brake systems that could fail entirely. This recall includes models like the redesigned 2007 Chrysler Sebring and 2007 Jeep Wrangler along with the all-new Jeep Compass, Dodge Caliber and 2007 Dodge Nitro. Also included in the recall are the 2007 Chrysler 300, Jeep Commander, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Magnum and Dodge Charger.

Recall notices will be sent in February but if owners of these vehicles experience any instrument panel warning light illumination they should immediately have their car inspected by a dealer.
